The Division of Genetics at CHAM is dedicated to training the next generation of leaders in the field of genetic and genomic medicine.  Our educational programs are focused on both training professionals to become outstanding clinicians and preparing them for the lifetime of learning that is necessary in a field that is so rapidly evolving. The Division (along with its sister Division of Reproductive Genetics in Montefiore’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health) offers the following educational opportunities:

  • A two-year residency program (which is actually a clinical fellowship program) in medical genetics,  offered in collaboration with Montefiore's reproductive genetics program.  To be eligible, applicants must have completed three years in an ACGME-approved pediatric residency training program before beginning their fellowship
  • Educational activities for master's-level graduate students in genetic counseling at the Joan L. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College.  These activities include clinical rotations at CHAM for first- and second-year students, as well as didactic sessions taught on the Sarah Lawrence campus by Division faculty.
  • Educational activities for medical students at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and other medical schools.  These include didactic sessions that are part of the first-year Molecular and Cellular Foundations in Medicine course and of the third-year clerkship in pediatrics, as well as clinical rotations for fourth-year students (including an elective in pediatric genetics).
  • Educational activities for residents in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine and other specialties.  These include didactic sessions and clinical rotations.
