Resident Life at CHAM
Hospital Resources
Montefiore has electronic medical records and utilizes a completely computerized ordering system that links to both radiology and lab services. Lab test results and vital signs are recorded in this system. Mobile workstations connected via wireless technology are available for all house staff when on the floors, in the ED and in the outpatient departments. Continuity clinics are equipped with electronic medical records where house staff enter all visit information, create consult letters and generate prescriptions. Additionally, the PICU includes computers with flat-screen, high-resolution monitors for viewing radiographic studies.
Shuttle Service
Shuttle service is available from the Riverdale (Waldo Avenue) apartments to the Montefiore Campus. Shuttle service is provided between Montefiore and Einstein campuses every half-hour during peak times and every 45 minutes to 1 hour off-peak. The shuttle ride between campuses is approximately 25 minutes.
Meals
Each resident is allotted $15/day (times six days/week to account for your day off each week). The money is automatically deposited in your account, linked to your ID badge and debited as you purchase meals. In addition, there are occasional department-sponsored lunches, including the traditional house staff lunch held every Friday and recruitment lunches throughout the interview season.
Time Off
We strictly adhere to ACGME Duty Hour Guidelines. This system guarantees at least one weekend per month and one 24-hour period each week free of clinical obligations.
Vacation
Each resident is granted four full weeks of vacation free of any clinical obligations. Vacations are scheduled in two-week blocks.
