Before Your Visit

Our medical professionals are committed to the comfort and well-being of you and your family members during your hospital stay. Whether you are interacting with physicians, nurses, technologists, therapists or volunteers, please be assured that we are all working together to ensure you receive the highest-quality, compassionate care.

Hospital Room Options

Patient units are organized by medical specialties and are equipped for your medical care, comfort and safety. You may request your preference, although your first choice may not always be available. When assigning rooms, the hospital considers medical need as our first priority. There are two types of rooms available to patients:

  • Semi-private (covered by insurance)
  • Private (additional charge not covered by insurance)
It is a good idea to check with your insurance carrier or employer regarding your coverage before coming to the hospital.

Guidelines on Bringing Personal Belongings

While we encourage you to bring items with you that will increase your well-being and comfort, we cannot be responsible for personal items. To safeguard your personal belongings and to meet hospital rules, we ask you to keep the items you bring to a minimum. Your nurse will list your personal items in an inventory when you are admitted and you may request to place valuables in our hospital safe. Please follow these guidelines during your stay:

  • Please leave valuables such as jewelry, cash or credit cards at home.
  • Battery-powered items are permitted, but please leave electrical appliances (hairdryers, shavers, televisions, radios, etc.) at home, as they may interfere with medical equipment.
  • Personal items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures and assistive devices like canes should be marked with your name and room number. When not being used they should be stored in labeled cases or containers as appropriate.
  • Additional clothing is not needed and we suggest that you don’t keep your street clothes with you in the hospital. Ask a friend or family member to take home the clothing you wear to the hospital and bring clothes for you when you are ready to be discharged.

Telephone Service at the Hospital

  • Cell phone use is permitted on patient floors but in certain areas may be restricted due to interference with medical equipment.
  • A telephone is available at your bedside. Incoming calls are free and af daily fee is charged for local calls you make. To activate this service, dial ext. 8400 at Moses, ext. 2017 at Weiler and ext. 9851 at North.
  • Telephones in hospital rooms will not permit long-distance calls. You may use a calling card for making long-distance calls or place them as collect calls.

Meals

We are sensitive to cultural dietary guidelines and restrictions. Meals served at Jack D. Weiler Hospital are prepared under rabbinical supervision in accordance with Jewish dietary laws (KASHRUTH).
